Guiding Principles

Elected representatives too often see themselves as the builders and managers of society instead of the public servants that they should be. If we learned anything from the COVID pandemic, it’s that governments are too quick to take control as soon as they can make the slightest justification for it, however specious that justification may be. As your representative, I will ALWAYS prioritize individual liberties over increasing state control!

Public office is too easily abused for personal gain. Public money is the property of the people and should only be used for the benefit of the general citizenry, not specific market sectors or special interests. I have no business interests that can substantially benefit from state legislation or public subsidies. As your representative, I will ALWAYS vote principles over politics and will never support bad legislation as a political favor to another or for my own personal benefit. My allegiance is to the Natural Rights of the individual citizen and to no other interest.

Parents are the PRIMARY stakeholder in the education of their children, yet they are increasingly being squeezed out of the education process. The Utah public school system is inserting itself where it doesn’t belong, into the home and the family. The family structure is the most important support in a child’s life. From mask mandates to divisive political ideologies, the public school system AND THE STUDENTS are being abused! As your representative, I will ALWAYS vote to protect the sanctity of home and family, ensure that parents are restored to their proper place as the principal influence in the education of their children, and return schools to be institutions of education instead of laboratories of social engineering.

There is a common misconception that government hierarchy is like a corporate management structure, where higher levels of governments are the “bosses” of lower levels. My approach is that any issue addressed by government should be addressed at the lowest level possible, the level that is closest to the people who would be impacted by a solution. As your representative, I will STRONGLY defend against intrusions into Utah sovereignty by the federal government, international bodies, and corporate interests. Additionally, I will strongly resist efforts by the Utah legislature to impose statewide solutions that can more rightly me addressed by counties, cities, and local communities.
